Some love stories begin with people. Ours began with fabric.
Back in 2008, shortly after my marriage, I moved to Delhi. One day, my husband took me on a short trip to Jaipur, and that trip changed something forever. I fell head over heels in love with the beauty of hand block prints. The colors, the imperfections, the stories hidden in every motif, everything felt magical.
Living in Delhi, so close to Jaipur, I found myself constantly collecting hand block printed kurtis, dresses, dupattas, and even bed sheets. The deeper I explored, the more fascinated I became by India’s incredible textile heritage.
Then Life Happened
I became a mother. Then a mother again. And then once more.
Somewhere between raising three children and managing a family, my body changed. I gained weight, but what hurt more was discovering how limited fashion became for women like me.
Every trip to a mall ended in disappointment. Trial rooms became places of frustration. I cried, I got angry, and I often came home feeling invisible.
The Moment Everything Changed
One day, while browsing through one of my favorite local stores, I spotted the most beautiful noodle strap tops and short dresses. I was instantly excited.
“Ma’am, these are available only up to XL.”
My heart sank.
In that moment, I felt excluded, embarrassed, and unseen. It felt like the world had decided that women above a certain size didn’t deserve beautiful clothes.
If I couldn’t find the clothes I wanted to wear, I would create them myself.
How Unblock By Jenny Was Born
And that’s how Unblock By Jenny was born.
A brand built from two passions — my deep love for traditional Indian hand block prints and my determination to create truly size-inclusive fashion for women of every shape and size.
The name Unblock carries a special meaning. It comes from the art of block printing, the craft that inspired this journey.
